Neglected and poorly healed, this fracture placed severe pressure on the spinal cord as it exited the skull. This resulted in loss of walking and movement of all four limbs. Surgery was performed on the skull base to widen the cervical spinal canal, relieve pressure on the spinal cord, and stabilize the first and second cervical vertebrae. The patient made a rapid improvement, thank God.
